Concrete-pumping truck
“I bought a used concrete pumping truck from a supplier of mine in Taiwan, but the price to ship it back to NZ was just not cost effective. That’s when I spoke with Taurus Logistics to find me a cheaper way.”
Challenge
This is a typical example of many of the OOG (out of gauge) shipments we are asked to find competitive shipping solutions for. Our customer had purchased ex works in Keelung, meaning we had to provide all logistics to pickup from the sellers site, secure to a flat rack, and transport to port.
Solution
We engaged our local agent in Taiwan, who is also a specialist in shipping heavy machinery, to handle the load and lash to the flat rack, and the transport on a low loader to port.
Result
We approximately halved the expected freight cost to our customer, by our approach to handling is concrete truck, and utilising on deck opportunities. Normally this would ship under deck, as the salt water corrosion would do to much damage, but in this case our client was happy to have the lower price as the parts he wanted from the truck would not be affected.
