Challenge
Our project involved some logistical headaches – we had purchased a new combine and 25ft grain cutting front in Iowa along with three used “draper pickup” fronts in Montana. We worked with Richard and Tara from Taurus together with the selling dealer in Iowa to organize the transportation, packing and shipping to New Zealand
Solution
The combine, being over-dimension needed to be loaded on a transporter with its wheels removed and hauled 950 miles to Baltimore, lifted from the trailer and have its wheels re-fitted prior to a final wash down and loading for the sea voyage to Auckland where it received a MAF clearance. Taurus then organized the re-loading of the combine for coastal shipping to Lyttelton. Three draper fronts in Montana were dismantled, hauled by truck 1,250 miles to Iowa where they were packed in 20ft and 40 ft containers together with the grain front and various parts and other equipment we had purchased. These containers then travelled by train to New York and were shipped directly to Lyttelton.
Result
All of this equipment arrived in Lyttelton on Time, on Budget and with not so much as a single scratch on them. This whole process when extremely smoothly, with communication between ourselves, Richard and Tara, our Iowa Dealer and Taurus’ American Agent being open, easy and accurate, with daily updates being central to success for all parties. So much so that I have never met Richard or Tara in person, and we arranged the whole importing process without leaving our farm yard. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Taurus Logistics to anyone importing equipment into New Zealand.
